Simply Superior Corrosion Resistant Steel Reinforcement
Stainless steel rebar provides a 100-year service life without disruptive repairs – while infrastructure built with less durable coated or uncoated reinforcement products face major repairs after about 50 years.
Only stainless steel rebar is universally recognized as providing an extended track record of metal durability in a range of corrosive environments since its development over 110 years ago.
The basis of this success is simple : The unique chemistry and microstructure of the various alloys meeting ASTM A955 are designed for infrastructure applications which are exposed to a range of corrosive environments. A third of the stainless steel chemistry is comprised of corrosion resisting metals and is virtually a “carbon-free” material.
We are here to help you
If you represent an infrastructure facility owner either directly or as a contracted expert resource and you require information, or, if you are a contractor and are in need of a supply of stainless steel rebar, stainless steel wire mesh, or rebar accessories please feel free to contact us.
Who is the SSIG?
Key players involved in the supply chain of stainless steel rebar to U.S. and Canadian infrastructure owners and operators have formed the Stainless Steel Interest Group, the SSIG. The purpose is to promote the use of stainless steel rebar in these geographical areas.
The members include the North American Stainless mill and three prominent stainless steel rebar fabricators, namely Contractors Materials Company, Re Steel Supply and Salit Specialty Rebar.
The group is driven to provide relevant and accurate science based information on the properties, features and benefits of stainless steel rebar to decision makers involved in the conceptualization, assessment, specification, supply and construction stages of the infrastructure supply chain.
“Stainless steel rewards with longer term, more sustainable durable structures relative to those built with other rebar materials.”
